Huon Ka Shun

Currently a Form Six student at Wa Ying College, Ho Man Tin, Huon is also a candidate for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Music examination this year. He previously served as the concertmaster and director of the school's string orchestra and was formerly the Principal Erhu of the New Territories Youth Chinese Orchestra under the Music Office.


He began learning violin and erhu under the guidance of several teachers since childhood and has developed a strong interest in composition and conducting. Huon holds an ATCL certification in violin and was awarded Third Prize in the Advanced Erhu category at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. As a conductor, he served as a student conductor at the school's 54th Anniversary and Prize Presentation Ceremony and is also responsible for part of the string orchestra's training. In composition, his work written in Secondary 4 received the "Best Chinese Instrumental Composition Award (Ensemble)" at the 2023-2024 "Relishing Creativeness in the Hong Kong Palace Museum" Music Composition Competition. Another Chinese ensemble work, Colours of Nature, was selected for the inaugural ‘Music From The Heart – Budding Composers.’
